One of the few things that I really plan is my reading adventure for each year! Yes, I call it an adventure because I try to ensure that the sequence of books I line up, the mix of genres, and the duration each takes is a trip to another land and life by itself.
While I did plan to include a wide array of genres in my reading list for the year, thrillers have been the highlight as always. Apart from thrillers I did read genres that I often don’t, some of them being black literature, humour, and non-fiction. I did enjoy reading most of the books that I did read, but there were some that were pure disasters! But what’s life without a little inconvenience, right?
Another genre that I am reading a lot off-late is poetry! There has just been so much of fine poetry doing the rounds of varied social media, I couldn’t help but read a few books the modern day poets! And was I impressed? I mostly was! While some are more hype than real content, some others have managed to beautifully convey their life lessons in very soothing ways.
I aimed to read more of magical realism, and Authors known for that, and boy do I love this genre more? Apart from this, I resolved to read more classics, but that was a disaster, and I am slowly coming to terms with the fact that classics aren’t something that I really want to read.
Some picks from the first half of 2017
All the Ugly and Wonderful Things, Chronicle of a Death Foretold, The Woman on the Orient Express, Big Mushy Happy Lump, Sofia Khan is Not Obliged, My Sister’s Grave, Neon Soul, Anne of Green Gables, Homegoing and Throwing Sparks were some of the books that I really enjoyed.
Some of the Authors that I want to read more of are Gabriel García, Jo Nesbo, Robert Dugoni , and R H Sin.
What I look forward to in the second half of 2017.
I hope to read a few romances, many thrillers and hopefully at least one Murakami title!
